Injection Therapy
Knee Injection treatment options
Corticosteroids (Steroid Injections): These reduce inflammation quickly, often used for acute pain, osteoarthritis, inflammatory or rheumatoid arthritis. They typically provide relief for 4–6 weeks, sometimes up to 3 months.
Hyaluronic Acid (Viscosupplementation): Known as “gel shots,” these replace or enhance natural joint lubrication, ideal for mild to moderate osteoarthritis. Relief can last for several months. (https://durolane.com/en/)
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP): Derived from the patient’s own blood, this is used to reduce inflammation and stimulate tissue healing, often favoured by active individuals with early-to-moderate arthritis. This has shown to be effective for early osteoarthritis and tendonitis.( https://youtu.be/kj8WthIl9Is?si=AN77gm-h31LzsS6y )
Arthrosamid (Polyacrylamide Hydrogel): A non-biodegradable, non-migratory hydrogel that acts as a cushion. It is used for moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis, with studies showing pain reduction for up to 3–5 years.
